Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain large track density by adjusting a head position finely on the basis of sector servo information when a head comes close to a target track position. CONSTITUTION:Disks 1 and 2 are driven by a spindle motor 3 and at some of respective recording tracks on top and reverse surfaces of the disks 1 and 2, pieces of sector servo information on relative positions of heads and tracks are recorded previously. The heads 4a-4d are fitted to one-side ends of head arms 5a-5d, whose other-side ends are fitted to a carriage 6. The carriage 6 moves the heads 4a-4d in the radius directions of the disks 1 and 2 along respective disk surfaces and is driven through a belt 7 by a stepping motor 8 which drives the belt 7.
