Abstract

PURPOSE:To record information signals in high density with a driving system of ordinary mechanical accuracy by subsequently forming recording tracks on a magnetic tape while performing tracking control operation even at the recording. CONSTITUTION:The recording tracks formed subsequently on a magnetic tape by the recording-playback heads of two sets of magnetic head assemblies mounted on a rotary drum are made of mutually different azimuths. When the switch is changed over at the reproducing, the corresponding relations of the recording-playback head 26a, tracking head 27a, 28a of the head set in one head assembly and the recording tracks on the tape change over and the head 28a rides on the recording track 2C which the recording-playback head 26b of the other head asembly had traced and therefore the image reproduction of still, slow motion, etc. is accomplished with the tracking head 28a in one head assembly and the recording-playback head 26 in the other head assembly.
