Abstract

PURPOSE: To generate uniform nuggets in each part of a weld zone and improve the strength of the weld zone by forming members located around the weld zone of a device of non-magnetic materials in production of leads and the like.
CONSTITUTION: In a producing device for leads and the like, members such as a clamp 9 and a cutter 8 which are located around the weld zone and receive a Jumet wire 6 are formed of non-magnetic super hard material. The Dumet wire 6 inserted into a welding electrode 12 is projected through a die. The projecting part thereof is held with the clamp 9 and the cutter 8, and is meshed with a die 7, whereby the wire 6 is cut. Next, the leading end of a CP wire 10 is brought in abutment on the cut end face of the wire 6, and voltage is applied to weld both. Despite the formation of a magnetic field by flowing of electric current to the die 7 at this time, the clamp 9 and the cutter 8 are not magnetized because they are made of non-magnetic material. Hence, the arc during welding no longer receives magnetic force, and nuggets are generated uniformly over the entire circumference of the weld zone.
