Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the arc blow of the terminal part of welding by spraying powdery or granular ferromagnetic material in grooves and performing welding.
CONSTITUTION: Powdery or granular ferromagnetic material is iron powder, granule iron, nickel powder, cut wires cut to about 1mm from welding rods of about 1mm in diameter, etc. When grooves 2 are provided in the materials 1 to be welded and arc 4 is generated in an electrode 3, magnetic fluxes 5 are generated around the electrode by welding current. In the case of spraying powder 8 of the ferromagnetic material in the groove plates without welding the tab plates over their entire part, the magnetic fluxes are easier to pass therethrough and therefore the distribution of the magnetic fluxes does bot become irregular and arc blow does not occur so much. Mounting the tab plates to the terminal part of the materials to be welded simply necessitates partially fixing the same and spraying the powder of the ferromagnetic material in the remaining grooves without any need for welding over the entire section and this makes possible considerable reduction in the number of steps of mounting the tab plates.
