Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the formation of weld defects in the final end part of welding by changing the long axis direction of a beam section near the final end part of welding at the time of performing welding with an anisotropic electron beam.
CONSTITUTION: In welding the weld lines 7, 8 of works 4 with an anisotropic electron beam, the sectional shape that the anisotropic electron beam forms on the works 4 is made into a shape 1 of which the long axis direction is inclined in a weld direction 2 in the regular weld zone and welding is carried out. As the welding approaches to the final end part of welding, the electric current of the electron beam is decreased, and the shape 3 of which the long axis in the irradiation section of the electron beam is aligned to the weld direction 2 is formed on the works 4, to reduce bead width. In this way, the weld beads are gradually reduced in the final end part of welding, and the superior electron beam welding having no spikes and cavities in the neighborhood E of the final end part is accomplished.
