Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve image quality by making the electric resistance of sleeves in the 1st and 2nd developing devices dissimilar, and making the average grain sizes and volume electric resistivities of the developers used for the respective developing different from each other. CONSTITUTION:In the 1st developing device, the surface of a sleeve 40 is tufram- treated to have a higher resistance value, and a magnetic carrier having 10<8>OMEGAcm volume electric resistivity and 100mum average grain sizes is used as the magnetic carrier in a developer D4. On the other hand, a twill line sleeve of aluminum not applied with tufram surface treatment is used for a sleeve 50 in the 2nd developing device 5, and developing is carried out by using the carrier having 150mum average grain sizes and 10<4>OMEGAcm volume electric resistivity for the carrier in a developer D5, then the dropout phenomena in red color copied images are eliminated and the density of black color images is improved as well.
