Abstract

PURPOSE: To achieve the stabilization of the picture quality of monochromatic or 2 color images by removing the residual toner with a magnetic brush in the second rotation of a photosensitive drum in monochrome copying with a two color electrophotographic copier having a magnetic brush type black developing means.

At this time, the red developing, second charging and charging before the transfer which do not contribute to the monochrome copying are disabled and the cleaning device 16 is also stopped. Hence, the photosensitive drum 1 is removed of the residual toner by the magnetic brush 9 of the black developing device 8 in the second rotation, after which the next operation is started. In this way, the monochrome or two color images may be maintained at high quality without adding any device.
