Abstract

PURPOSE:To make the contents of a liquid display in a dark place easily legible by sandwiching plural optical fibers between upper and lower substrate glasses constituting a liquid crystal display body, disposing the respective terminal parts in required places and irradiating illuminating light from the terminal parts. CONSTITUTION:In a liquid crystal display body consisting of an upper substrate glass 6, a lower substrate glass 9, a liquid crystal 7, a display electrode 10, a reflection plate 11, etc., plural optical fibers 12 are sandwiched between the glasses 6, 9, and the terminal parts 14 thereof are disposed in the required places on the glass 9. The section of the parts 14 is made into the section selected from square, uphill slope and downhill slope. The incident side ends of the plural fibers 12 are bundled and light is made incident thereto by a light source 13 so that illuminating light is irradiated through the plural terminal radiating ports 14 disposed in the required parts. Thereby, uniform illuminance is given over the entire surface of the liquid crystal display part, and the contents of the liquid crystal display in a dark place is made easily legible.
