Abstract
PURPOSE: To extrude always a constant amt. of molten metal by means of a piston by detecting the change in the height of a molten metal surface with a float, and controlling the stroke of the piston by mechanical means in accordance with the change thereof.
CONSTITUTION: Molten metal 18 is put into a receiving vessel 1 and is introduced through a valve 5 into a cylinder 2. The valve 5 is closed and a piston 3 is lowered by operating an oil hydraulic device 9 to teem the molten metal in the cylinder 2 through a pipe 4 into an injection cylinder 23. As the piston 3 descends, a phototube 17 also descends, and the light of the phototube 17 is shielded by a shielding object 16, by which the descending of the piston 3 is stopped. When the molten metal 18 in the vessel 1 is decreased by casting, the position of a float 6 lowers, and the position of the object 16 is lowered by means of a rack 12, a gear 13, a pinion 14, and a rack 15. Since the gear ratio between the gear 13 and the pinion 14 is set equal to the sectional area ratio of the cylinder 3 and the pipe 4, the rate of casting of the molten metal 18 is made always constant.
