Abstract
PURPOSE:To utilize a software subroutine effectively from both a software program and a microprogram, by adding a flag for discriminating between a link from the software program and that from the microprogram to various pieces of stand-by information. CONSTITUTION:For a link from a software program to a software subroutine, the value of a program counter 16 is stored in an address indicated by the stack pointer 20 of a stack memory 21 through a selector 18. After the storage, the value of the stack point 20 goes up by one under the control of a control storage controller 19. Then, a flag F (=0) in a microinstruction register 11 is stored in the stack memory 21. For a link from a microprogram to the software subroutine, the value of a microprogram counter 13 is increased by one through an incrementer 17 and a flag F (=1) is set to store the resulting value in the stack memory 21.
