Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound useful as a drug having anticoccidium action in high yield, by benzylating an 6-alkylaminopurine, etc. in the presence of a catalyst transferring between phases in a two-phase system using an inexpensive organic solvent.
CONSTITUTION: A compound, e.g., 6-methylaminopurine, shown by the formulaI(R1 is H, or 1W3C alkyl; R2 is 1W3C alkyl, aryl) is reacted with a compound, e.g., 2-chloro-6-fluorobenzyl chloride, shown by the formula II(R3, R4, and X are halogen) in a two-phase system of liquid-liquid or solid-liquid, in the presence of a catalyst transferring between phases (e.g., quaternary ammonium salt, etc.), to give the desired compound shown by the formula III.
