Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform melt-sticking of aligned axial lines with simple and inexpensive constitution by providing a mirror which projects the joint part of optical fibers insertably between the optical fibers and electrodes. CONSTITUTION:Optical fibers A1, A2 are set to support tables 4, 5, and exposed parts B1, B2 are opposed in the position between electrodes 10, 11. When a mirror solenoid 25 is energized, a movable iron core 26 is lifted, and a mirror supporting table 20 is turned in an arrow (a) direction around a pin 21, by which a mirror 23 is inserted into between the joint part of the parts B1, B2 and an electrode 16 at a 45 deg. angle of inclination. The operator observes the top surface of the joint prt of the parts B1, B2, and the side face projected on the mirror 23, and aligns the axial lines. When the solenoid 25 is deenergized, the mirror 23 is reset by a spring 28. Discharge is caused between the electrodes 10 and 11, thereby melt- sticking the parts B1, B2. Thus, the melt-sticking of aligned axial lines is accomplished with the simple and inexpensive constitution.
