Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the device which permits low loss-bonding of optical fibers by connecting the two optical fibers having been removed of covering through simple mechanical operation within the V-groove. CONSTITUTION:A V-groove substrate 1 is fixed onto a V-groove connector fixing table 11 and a fiber retainer plate 4 and clamps 5 are lifted up by plates 12a, 12b. Thence, fibers are set in a fiber holding part 9. When a lever 13 is pulled in the arrow direction in this state, the fibers are entered into a fixing groove 3 by mechanism such as connecting part 14. When the lever 13 is pulled again, the two fibers are butted on the groove 3. Further the plate 12b is lowered to fix the fibers and this completes the connection. In this way, the two optical fibers may be connected at low losses by setting the optical fibers having been removed of the covering in the V-groove substrate and only through simple mechanical operation for the rest.
