Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve the smaller size and higher accuracy of the connector for multicore optical fibers by performing the alignment of the optical fibers by the V- grooves formed through the use of anisotropic etching techniques on a silicone single crystal and the butting thereof by knock pins. CONSTITUTION:Plugs 1 and 1' are butted and aligned by aligning knock pins 3 and 3' into a split sleeve 5 and knock pins 4 and 4' into a split sleeve 6 by way of an adapter 2. Fibers 7-1-7-n are held aligned and fixed in the V-grooves of the V- groove plate 8 formed through anisotropic etching on a silicon single crystal. The V-grooves of the silicon V-groove plate 8 and the knock pins 3 and 4 are positioned with good accuracy by the predetermined procedures. In this way, the multiconnector of a small size and high accuracy may be realized.
