Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the accuracy of optical connection with mere working of only the contact part which is a reference for positioning with high accuracy by positioning fixing members for firing optical fibers and collars projected thereto on the bases of a pair of circular cylindrical members which constitute an adapter. CONSTITUTION:The fixing members 7 and collars 11 of respective terminal blocks 9 are positioned on the bases of the peripheral faces of the common circular cylindrical members 15. Namely, the fixing members 7 and the collars 11 are brought into pressurized contact with the members 15 by the pressing force of an elastic member, by which the members 15 are automatically moved along the slopes 17 of a base plate 14 and the contact surfaces of the joined members 7 and the collars 11 with the members 15 are so positioned as to be flush with each other. The axial alignment of the fixing members with high accuracy based on the members 15 is thereby executed if the parallelism and width side of the contact surfaces of the members 7 with the circular cylindrical members as well as the sizes from both side faces thereof to housing grooves 10 for fixing the fibers and the level of the contact surfaces of the collars 11 with the circular cylindrical members are finished to high accuracy.
