Abstract

PURPOSE:To change magnetic power of a permanent magnet by a method wherein cast construction of ingot of an alloy consisting of Sm, Co, Cu, Fe, Al and being mainly composed of an Sm2Co17 type crystal having Sm contents of the prescribed range is made as a columnar crystal. CONSTITUTION:The alloy being mainly composed of the Sm2Co17 type crystal consisting of Sm, Co, Cu, Fe, Al and having Sm contents being within the range of 21-28wt% is dissolved using a high-frequency melting furnace, and is poured into a metal mold manufactured with iron at the pouring temperature of 1,700 deg.C. The solid solution treatment of the ingot thereof is performed at the temperature between 1,130-1,180 deg.C, and the aging treatment is performed in succession at 800 deg.C for 24hr to perform magnetic hardening. Accordingly structure of crystal of the ingot thereof can be formed as the columnar crystal, and the ingot thereof is pulverized and is kneaded with an organic binder, and press molding and hardening are performed to enable to obtain the magnet being enhanced magnetic power.
