Abstract

PURPOSE: To remarkably reduce occurrence of casting deffects in an Fe-Cr-Co type magnet alloy in casting by adding misch metal to the alloy to enhance the fluidity of the alloy when melted.
CONSTITUTION: When an Fe-Cr-Co type magnet alloy consisting of Cr 15W40%, Co 3W30% and the balance Fe is melted in a high frequency induction furnace, misch metal 0.05W0.5% is added and melted. The alloy may contain Ti 0.1W5%, may further contain V 0.1W10%, and optionally contains one or more out of Zr, Mo, W and Ta 0.1W3%. The misch metal added enhances the fluidity of the molten alloy, so casting deffects such as misrun and formation of shrinkage cavities are remarkably reduced when the molten alloy is cast in an ingot case, resulting in an enhanced product yield.
