Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a die casting Al alloy having superior die castability and strength and capable of forming a uniform anodic oxide film of high brightness by adding a specified amount of Mn and V to Al.
CONSTITUTION: This die casting Al alloy contains 1.7W4.0% Mn, 0.05W0.6% V and <0.5% impurities such as Fe and Si. When this Al alloy is die cast, it shows high fluidity and slightly causes defects due to shrinkage, and the resulting die castings have high mechanical strength. By carrying out anodic oxidation by an ordinary sulfate method, a uniform anodic oxide film tinged with silver or red can be formed on the surface of the die cast product, and the product can be colored uniformly by dyeing.
