Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide excellent magnetic characteristics, in particular high coercive force, by adding Sn to a low Co Fe-Cr-Co containing alloy.
CONSTITUTION: The Fe-Cr-Co containing permanent magnet alloy comprising 20W 35% Cr, 3W15% Co, 0.01W2% Sn and the remainder of substantially Fe. Sn in the alloy improves magnetic characteristics, in particular coercive force even with low Co, but with under 0.01% Sn the effect cannot be obtained and with over 2% Sn the magnet characteristics are reversely deteriorated. The magnet alloy can be prepared by a rolling method, a casting method and the like, but the preparation of it by a powder metallurgy method is preferable and the preparation can give a magnet alloy having a somewhat inferior residual magnetic flux density but having high coercive force because of its fine crystal structure. Further the preparation can easily control a cooling rate after sintering and save a solution treatment.
