Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a very useful permanent magnet alloy having a composition represented by a specified relative formula as an intermetallic compound contg. a rare earth metal, Co, P, etc. and showing superior residual magnetic flux density and coercive force.
CONSTITUTION: This permanet magnet alloy has a composition represented by the formula (where R is one or more kinds of rare earth elements such as Sm and Co, M is Hf, M' is P, 0.01≤x≤0.4, 0.02≤y≤0.25, 0.001≤α≤0.15, 0.001≤β≤0.15 and 6≤A≤8.3). The combined addition of Hf and P enables a reduction in the time required for heat treatment. This novel permanent magnet shows superior residual magnetic flux density and coercive force.
