Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a very useful permanent magnet alloy having a composition represented by a specified relative formula as an intermetallic compound contg. a rare earth metal, Co, B, etc. and showing superior residual magnetic flux density and coercive force.
CONSTITUTION: This permanent magnet alloy has a composition represented by the formula (where R is one or more kinds of rare earth elements such as Sm and Co, M is Zr, M' is B, 0.01≤x≤0.4, 0.02≤y≤0.25, 0.001≤α≤0.15, 0.001≤β≤0.15 and 6≤A≤8.3). The combined addition of Zr and B lowers the sintering temp., resulting in increased coercive force. The addition of B lowers the soln. heat treatment temp. as well as the sintering temp., exerting a favorable influence on heat treatment.
