Abstract

PURPOSE:To contrive to miniaturize a chopper-controlled inverter by using a single set of commutating circuit commonly for both a chopper part and a DC switch part. CONSTITUTION:A DC voltage supplied from a voltage source 1 is impressed on the chopoer part 2 and a thyristor 3 is turned ON and OFF intermittently by a signal from a gate circuit 19, thereby intermittently obtaining a DC voltage controlled to be a predetermiend value. This DC voltae is fed to a general commutation type inverter 8 through the DC switch part 10 to obtain a balanced three-phase AC voltage at an output terminal of the inverter 8. The commutating circuit 20 consists of a series circuit which includes a commutating reactor 22 connected in series between thyristors 3 and 11, and another series circuit which is connected in parallel with said series circuit and consisting of a commutating capacitor 21 and an auxiliary thyristor 23. The auxiliary thyristor 23 is fed with a gate signal synchronously with the time at which both the chopper part 2 and the DC switch part 10 are turned OFF.
