Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the wasteful discharge of energy stored in a superconductive coil by connecting primary and secondary coils in series with two transformers aligned at an interval, and connecting a voltage control circuit across the primary coil and the superconductive coil via a switch between both ends of the secondary coil and the connecting point of the secondary coil. CONSTITUTION:Two transformers 3a, 3b are horizontally aligned at the prescribed interval, and the primary coils 1a, 1b and secondary coils 2a, 2b are respectively connected in series. A voltage control circuit 9 is connected across the primary side 1c of the coils 1a, 1b, and a superconductive coil 7 is connected at one end to the connecting point 4a of the coils 2a, 2b and secondary side 2c and at the other end via switches 5, 6 across the secondary side 2c. Thus, even if a quench occurs at the coil of one transformer, no abrupt variation in the magnetic field and no heating occur, so that the permanent current state does not alter, with the result that the energy stored in the coil 7 is not wastefully discharged.
