Abstract

PURPOSE:To heat slabs to target temps. with good accuracy by determining the slab temps. of the current time and future time from the time changes of temp. distributions in a furnace, and controlling fuel flow rates in such a way as to maintain the deviations between the forecast temps. and target temps. of the slabs at below set values. CONSTITUTION:The flow rates of charged fuel and the flow rates of charged air at every arbitrary time in each control zone of a continuous type heating furnace are detected. From both flow rates, the time changes of furnace temp. distributions are determined and the furnace temp. distributions up to the current time are determined. The slab temps. of the current time are determined by using these furnace temp. distributions. In accordance with these slab temps. and arbitrarily set flow rates of charged fuel, the future furnace temp. fluctuations are forecast. Forecast slab temps. are determined by using such forecast temps. Next, the flow rates of charged fuel are corrected so as to diminish the deviations between the forecast slab temps. and target slab temps., and when they lower to below certain set values, these are determined as subsequent fuel flow rates. Thence, with these as target values, the flow rate control for charged fuel is accomplished.
