Abstract
PURPOSE:To make it possible to perform heating to a suitable temp. at a minimum fuel consumption per unit product, by calculating the temp. of each slab in each zone, and by determining the correcting quantity of furnace temp. in each zone so that each slab may be in a prescribed temp. range including lower limit temp. at the point where the slab is conveyed a prescribed distance. CONSTITUTION:In a continuous multiple zone heating furnace including a preheating zone, a heating zone, and a soaking zone, the temp. of each slab in the furnace is determined by calculating on the basis of furnace temp., heat-transferring characteristics of the furnace, the dimensions, the heating property, and the heat hysteresis of each slab. Then furnace temp. at subsequent time in the adjacent zone on the discharge side of a zone where the slab stays is assumed, and the furnace temp. in each zone, assumed furnace temp. at subsequent time in the zone on discharge side are corrected so that the temp. of all slabs in each zone when each slab is conveyed a prescribed distance from the present position may come into the target temp. range, and one or more slabs may be at the lower limit temp., hereby the quantity of correction for the furnace temp. in each zone is determined.
