Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable a lubricating system to deliver lubricating oil suited for various engine loads by providing double construction of an oil pan assembly consisting of inner and outer pans where lubricating oil is sucked from the inner pan which is at relatively higher temperature while the engine is under light or moderate loading, but, under heavy loading, oil is sucked from the outer pan which is easily cooled by the ambient air. CONSTITUTION:While the engine is operating under a light or moderate loading, a suction negative-pressure switch 29 is turned on so that a solenoid valve 24 is excited to cause a valve disc 22 to open an opening 16 and simultaneously to shut off a communicating hole 19. Therefore, an upper tray 11 and the inner pan 13 are connected through each other so that greater part of lubricating oil delivered to engine parts for lubrication comes back into the inner pan 13 through the opening 16 via a receiving tray 3 and the upper tray 11, becoming at higher temperature. The lubricating oil in the inner pan 13 is sucked up through the strainer 20 as it remains at higher temperature. The above-mentioned switch 20 is turned off when the engine is under heavy loading, so that lubricating oil at relatively lower temperature which has been cooled by the ambient air is sucked up for lubrication because the valve disc 22 of the solenoid valve 24 shuts up the opening 16 with the communicating hole 19 opened.
