Abstract

PURPOSE:To shorten the time required for warming lubricating oil, by providing a lubricating-oil warming chamber in oil pan in the manner surrounding an oil strainer. CONSTITUTION:Oil strainer 3 is disposed in oil pan 2 at a position lower than the allowable minimum level L of lubricating oil in the oil pan 2. A lubricating-oil warming chamber 4 is defined by a container 5 divided inside and opened at its lower portion, and an oil strainer 3 is fixed to the upper wall 5a of container 5. Lubricating oil in chamber 4, pumped up through strainer 3, is warmed up while circulating through the inside of engine and flows back into the warming chamber 4 via return passage 9. Then, oil thus warmed up is pumped up again for circulating through the inside of engine. Therefore, amount of lubricating oil to be warmed up is minimized and time required for warming lubricating oil can be shortened resultantly.
