Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the fillet parts and web parts in particular in continuous casting of beam blanks by cooling forcibly the fillet parts of the beam blank exposed earlier than other parts in the lower half part of a mold. CONSTITUTION:Molten steel is poured from a tundish into the inside cavity 30 of a mold 3, and an ingot 41 is extracted from the mold 3. Notches 31 are provided in the lower half part (about 1/2-1/5 the height of the mold 3) of this mold 3. Hence, the parts 31, that is, beam blank fillet 5 parts, are exopsed earlier than other parts. Thence, a refrigerant 11 is sprayed earlier than the other parts to the parts 5 from a force cooling nozzle 10 provided opposite to said parts 31, whereby said parts are cooled forcibly. Thereafter, while the ingot 41 is pulled from the mold 3, it is cooled over the entire surface or partially, whereby the intended beam blank is cast continuously.
