Abstract

PURPOSE:To read out image information on a document securely, by selectively changing over feed of a read scan mode signal and an image information signal to a light modulator, interrupting feed of both said signals in accordance with the information, and setting the level of said signal. CONSTITUTION:A read scan mode signal is selected with a change-over circuit in reading out information, it is fed to a light modulator 13, and projected, as a read scan beam l4 on a document P. In writing the information, an image information signal read out from a memory medium or the like is selected with the changeover circuit, and fed to the light modulator 13. A scan beam l3 changes in intensity in accordance with the white and black level of the image information signal and projects an exposure scan beam on a photosensitive drum D. When the intensity of the beam l4 does not accord with the light detection sensitivity of a photoelectric converter 2, a read scan signal level is set by manually operating variable resistance.
