Abstract

PURPOSE: To elevate thermal efficiency by applying a phase advancing current to generate heat at a part of the winding of a motor when the heating capacity falls short in a heat pump type air conditioner without an auxiliary heat source.
CONSTITUTION: During the heating operation in the winter season, when the room temperature exceeds a difference from a set temperature, a commander 12 provides a capacity increasing command to charge an electromagnetic switch 11 and a relay 13 to run a compressor 1 while a capacitor 15 is energized. Consequently, a compressor motor 1M is interrupted from the phase S with the action of a relay 13 and a terminal V is connected to the phase T through the capacitor 15, so that it is shifted to a single operation between the phases R and T resulting in a rise in the winding temperature. Heat generated contributes to a rise in the temperature of a gas discharged from the compressor 1. This increases the heat level of a refrigerant to be subjected to heat exchanger with room air through a room side coil 3 thereby enhancing the heating capacity.
