Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the abnormal rise of the discharge pressure of a compressor by providing a frequency converter by which commercial power source is converted into a variable frequency power source and controlling the revolution number of motors for compressing refrigerant and also for air blower based upon the variations in load.
CONSTITUTION: A variable frequency converter 2 consisting of a rectifying circuit 2' and a switch circuit 2" is connected to a commercial frequency power source 1, and the variable frequency converter 2 is connected to the motor of a refrigerant compressor 3 inside an air conditioner. The revolution number of the motor of the compressor 3 is controlled based upon the variations in the load by means of the output of the converter 2. Also, the motor of an air blower 6' for an outdoor heat exchanger 6 is controlled by the output of the converter 2. However, the motor of an air blower 4' for an indoor heat exchanger 4 operates with a fixed revolution number by the power source 1. The motor for the air blower driven by the output of the converter 2 can be turned reversely, and both motors can be operated by the output of the converter 2.
