Abstract
PURPOSE:To stabilize the loss of a submarine optical cable by preventing external force from operating on the connection part of the optical fiber core of the cable by making the inside of a pressuretight cylindrical pipe housing airtight while insulating the feeding system of the submarine optical cable from the metallic body of the housing. CONSTITUTION:The feeding system path of a submarine optical cable, i.e. a metallic protective pipe 22, etc., and a pressure-tight cylindrical pipe housing 29, etc., are insulated from each other. Between a metallic airtight pipe 45 and the cable through hole of a pressure-tight end-surface plate 30, 0 rings 46 made of a rubber material are arranged and the inside of the housing 29 is made airtight. Then, the mutual connection part of the submarine optical cable is protected against hydraulic pressure by the housing 29, a plastic molded body 40, the plate 30, the airtight pipe 45, and the 0 rings 46, and tensile strength applied to the cable and connection part is transmitted from a tensile-strength line 23 to an anchoring disk 39, the plastic molded body 40 and the housing 31, from a sheath line 27 directly to an anchoring housing 31, and further from the housing 31 to the housing 29, so that the tensile strength is not applied to the optical connection part 36.
