Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the occurence of build-up of optical fibers at the light guide end face by so constituting the light guide for covering an optical fiber bundle that the deformation of the fiber bundle may be absorbed. CONSTITUTION:A light guide 4 which covers an optical fiber bundle 1 is connected by way of an O-ring 20 to a stationary light guide which forms a terminal member 17 to which the fiber bundle 1 is secured by means of high polymer resin material 6 or the like so as to become flush with an end face 8. The guide 4 is made slidable and movable with respect to the member 17. With this constitution, the change of the fiber bundle 1 owing to residual stress at the assembling, heating or the like at the reiterative transmission of light is absorbed by the movement of the guide 4 and the end face of the fiber bundle 1 does not build up from the end face 8 of the light guide, thus light is transmitted well. Here, the similar results are also obtained even by connecting the member 17 and guide 4 by means of bellows or providing the space for containing the deformation of the fibers to the member 17 and guide 4.
