Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the titled coating agent for the resin coated sand for shell molding process, by pouring molten resin on a running metal belt, pressing the resin to a flat web with a press roll before cooling and solidifying, and after solidification, cutting to desired length.
CONSTITUTION: Molten novolak resin stored in an insulated tank 1 having a jacket 3 is poured through the bottom orifice on a metal belt 7 running at a constant speed. and pressed with a press roll 10 placed keeping a proper gap from the belt to obtain a flat web. The web is rapidly cooled and solidified with the metal belt cooled with the cooling water sprayed through the spraying pipe 8, and with chilled dry air blasted to the upper face of the web. The solidified web is released from the metal belt with a scraper/guide plate 13 at the end of the metal belt, and cut with a cutting roll 14 to a proper length of about 3W30mm to obtain the objective coating agent.
EFFECT: The agent can be stored without blocking, and molten rapidly by mixing with sand in dry hog marring.
