Abstract
PURPOSE: To facilitate the decomposition of excess sludge with high efficiency, by providing an anaerobic decomposing vessel with cyclic flow lines such as a descending passage and the like, and arranging a gas feeder in the descending passage for lowering sludge in a state of a mixed phase with gas.
CONSTITUTION: Excess sludge extracted from a sewage disposal system for municipal sewage or the like is fed into a reservoir 1. The sludge from the reservoir 1 is fed into an anaerobic decomposing vessel 2 embedded into a vertical hole A dug deeply in the underground. The sludge circulates from the descending passage R1 to an ascending passage R2 in the vessel 2, to decompose high molecular organic compounds by anaerobic bacteria. Thereafter, the sludge from the anaerobic decomposing vessel 2 is fed into a dehydrator 3, where the sludge is mixed with a flocculant and dewatered. The separated solid is fed to a device 4 for posttreatment such as drying, burning, etc. On the other hand, the effluent is fed into an excess water-disposing device 5, where the effluent is deodored and sterilized.
