Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture a mirror having high reflectance using an especially large-sized thin plate glass, by fixing at least a pair of the opposite sides of the circumference of the thin plate glass place on a substrate, and passing the assembly successively through the silver-plating step, copper-plating step, and resin-coating step.
CONSTITUTION: A large-sized thin plate glass 2 is placed on a relatively thick flat substrate 1. A pair of opposite sides 3, 4 of the thin plate glass 2 on the substrate 1 are fixed to the substrate 1 with strips of a heat-resistant adhesive tape 5, 6. The thin plate glass 2 placed on and fixed to the substrate 1 is passed successively through a manufacturing line c0mposed of a silver-plating step, a copper-plating step, and a resin-coating step, etc., to obtain the objective mirror. When the four sides 3, 4, 3', 4' of the thin plate glass 2 are sealed with the tapes 5, 6, 7, the solutions used in the processing steps do not penetrate between the substrate 1 and the glass 2, and the contaimination of the glass plate can be reduced.
