Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a long-life and stable laser by providing a narrow tube by penetrating a wall separating an external case into a cathode and an anode wherein the tip at the cathode side is thinned. CONSTITUTION:A narrow tube 1 is supported by a wall 3 provided in an external case 2. The part 1a close to the wall 3 is thickened and the end section 1c of the cathode side is thinned as the narrow tube 1 is liable to bend by dead load. Therefore, discharge is facilitated to the end section 5b side of the cathode 5 and the slope of surface current density of the cathode 5 is loosened to decrease the maximum value and a deterioration in the cathode 5 is reduced and the life is extended. Furthermore, bending is reduced and position and laser output are stabilized.
