Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a stabilized output by installing third electrode in a position on upper stream side from a line connecting an anode and a cathoce, so that a sunbeam column can be pulled back toward the upper stream side by static power. CONSTITUTION:Third electrode 9 is provided in a position on upper stream side from a line connecting an anode 1 to a cathode 2, and a voltage V3 is impressed on the electrode. As the voltage V3 is set lower than a sunbeam column potential, the sunbeam column is attracted in the direction of third electrode 9 and the most part of concave arc on an enveloped line 5 of a discharge radiation section goes down to down stream. And therefore, an active region 8 also generates immediately after the line linking the anode 1 to the cathode 2.
