Abstract
PURPOSE:To facilitate discharge by providing a wall at the one end surface of an external case in proximity to the space of a cathode wherein a mirror supporter also serving as an anode is installed on the wall. CONSTITUTION:A trigger voltage VT is applied to a mirror supporter 10 also serving as an anode through a resistor 13. Main discharge between the supporter 10 and a cathode 5 will not instantaneously start in darkness. Rare gas in space 14 instantaneously ionizes through the capacity between the supporter 10 and the space 14 of the cathode and AC glow discharge is repeated by a ripple voltage VL and discharge light emits electrons from the surface of the cathode 5. Therefore, discharge starts b between the supporter 10 and the cathode 5 and the voltage VT disappears to stabilize b discharge and the output in a power source 12 becomes Ebb and AC glow discharge will also disappear. In this composition, even if a laser tube 1 be left for a long period without discharge, the laser tube 1 can instantaneously starts discharge even if the power source 12 is turned ON in darkness and a laser output 16 can instantaneously be obtained.
