Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent a coating material from dropping or flowing down by a method wherein the surface of a coating material is made to be non-fluid by preheating and then the surface of a coated film on the outside surface of a body is made to be non-adhesive by cooling.
CONSTITUTION: A protective coating material is coated on the inside and outside surfaces of a side seam of a metallic sheet made cylinder body A which is produced by electric resistance welding. The cylindrical body A is then transferred onto a chain 13 of a conveyor 10 via a guide part 1 and is moved with the chain 13 into a preheating tunnel 16. Heating air is fed into the tunnel 16 through a pipe 17, so that the coating material on the surfaces of the cylindrical body A is made to be non-fluid. The cylindrical body A discharged from the tunnel 16 is moved with the chain 13 into a cooler 36, in which it is cooled by a cool air being supplied from a cooling air chamber 38 so that at least the surface of the coating film on the outside surface of the cylindrical body A is made to be non-adhesive, and then the cylindrical body A is dropped through a chute 14. The dropped cylindrical body A is conveyed to a heating furnace.
