Abstract

PURPOSE:To form a lustrous galvanized layer of a uniform thickness on both inside and outside of a steel pipe by a method in which a steel pipe pulled up from a galvanizing bath is inclined, heated rapidly, and removed of its excessive molten zinc on the surfaces by blasting a compressed gas onto the surfaces. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of steel pipes 20 whose surfaces are cleaned by pretreatments are sent onto a roller conveyer 6 above a galvanizing bath 1, and then transferred to the receiving arm 12 of a dipping beam 8. Then, the roller 6 is set back, the arm 12 is lowered at the same time, the steel pipes 20 are dipped in the galvanizing bath 21 and pulled up after the lapse of a certain time, the beam 8 is inclined, and then excessive molten zinc on the inside and outside of the steel pipes 20 is removed. Then, the steel pipes 20 are transferred onto the conveyer 6 and then heated their outsides by a quick heater 16 while being sent on the roller conveyer 3 so as to melt the excessive coagulated zinc on the surfaces, and then a compressed gas is blasted onto the surfaces by a nozzle 17 to blow off the excessive zinc and impurities on the surfaces of the steel pipes. Thus, a lustrous galvanized layer of a uniform thickness can be formed on both the inside and outside of the steel pipes.
