Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce molten pig iron efficiently by the use of low grade coal by passing iron oxide through the inside of the fluidized bed suspended with carbon bodies in a heating gaseous atmosphere, performing reduction, forming the fluidizied bed of reduced iron in the lower part thereof and introducing the same into a melting furnace. CONSTITUTION:Granules of general coal or low grade coal are charged from a hopper 3 into a fluidized furnace 1, and a gas elevated of temp. to about 850- 1,000 deg.C is ejected from air diffusion holes 4 to fluidize the carbon granules, whereby a fluidized layer 17 are formed by gas having strong reducibility and chars. Iron oxide is charged from a hopper 2 into a fluidized furnace 2, and is passed through fluidized layer 17, whereby reduced iron of about 90% rate of metallization is obtained. The reduced iron passes through an air diffusion plate 5 together with char, and forms a fluidized bed 18 in a funnel-like part 6. It is charged by each constant amt. into a melting furnace 8 by a dispensing device 30. Part of the gas of the furnace 1 is conducted to a plasma generator 11, and the reduced iron is melted or reduced by melting by the plasmatized reducing gas, whereby molten pig iron is obtained.
