Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the production efficiency of cast materials by controlling the flow of ingots and preventing the stagnation of conveying lines when there is a trouble in any of continuous casting, heating and blooming processes in the production of cast materials including these processes.
CONSTITUTION: The hot ingots which are continuously cast and cut in a continuous casting shop 2 are normally conveyed on a roller table 3 to a heating furnace 4, are charged into the furnace 4 by an ingot charger 5 and are reheated there, after which they are conveyed to a blooming shop 6. Here, if a trouble occurrs in the heating furnace 4, the ingots are transversely fed to a transfer device just before the heating furnace 4, are transferred from the transfer device to a carriage 7 and are thereby carried to a cold ingot depot 8, where they are kept standing by temporarily. If a trouble occurs in the continuous casting shop 2, the cold ingots are sent from the cold ingot depot 8 to the roller table 3 by way of the transfer device and are charged into the heating furnace 4.
