Abstract

PURPOSE: To save the amount of chemicals used for treatment of waste ozone by counterveiling waste gas and waste liquid by treating waste ozone coming from the ozonization process of a polluted water treatment plant with an alkali washing wast liquid for deodorization.
CONSTITUTION: When treated water cleaned through biological treatment, etc., is oxidized by ozone, unreacted ozone is left in waste gas. On the other hand, an alkali washing waste liquid used in the removal of offensively odorous gases (e.g., hydrogen sulfide, mercaptan, etc.) in the treatment plant, etc., is treated by an oxidizing agent. The waste gas containing low concentrations of unreacted ozone and the alkali washing waste liquid are contacted with each other by gaseous and liquid phase contacting methods to make them harmless. Thus, the amount of chemicals used for the treatment can be saved.
