Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform the malodor treatment without generating chloric odor and the secondary pollution in the process of malodorous gas treatment with two stage cleaning liquid by using cleaning liquids with each pH being maintained at a specific range.
CONSTITUTION: The malodorous gas 1 such as ammonia and mercaptan is first brought into contact with an alkaline cleaning liquid 13 of pH 10W13 in the first stage gas-liquid contact unit 2. Then, the treated gas 7 is guided into the second stage gas-liquid contact unit 3 where the gas is contacted with the second stage cleaning liquid 10 whose pH is maintained at 6W8 by use of sodium hypochlorite 6 and acid 9. The process provides an efficient removal of the malodorous gas by acid and alkali and causes no chloric odor nor the secondary pollution.
