Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove ammonia, etc., from the washing waste water of the thermal decomposition gas of urban wastes with high efficiency and with reduced amounts of treating agent.
CONSTITUTION: The thermal decomposition gas of urban wastes, containing combustible gas, ammonia, etc., is washed with water, and then the washing is reacted with a calcium compound, e.g., slaked lime, etc., to form solid (CaCo3) which is, in turn, dehydrated and then baked to CaO. The CaO is reused in the treatment of the washing. On the other hand, the treated liquor deprived of the solid is brought into contact with the combustion waste gas of the urban wastes thermal decomposition gas to strip ammonia, etc., present in the treated liquor, and then is neutralized with the washed thermal decomposition gas or the washed combustion waste gas.
