Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain orientation films which are uniform and are superior in heat resistance, etc., by performing rubbing treatment with a rotator flocked with nylon fibers, transferring nylon to substrate surfaces by friction heat and contact pressure and forming unidirectional nylon films as orientation films. CONSTITUTION:Liquid crystal cell substrates 2 are fixed by means of vacuum on a moving stage 1, and while a rotator 3 flocked with nylon fibers 4 is rotated in an arrow 5 direction, the stage 1 is moved in an arrow 6 direction. While the stage 1 is heated or fed with hot wind, the rotator 3 is rotated under 20-500g/cm<2> contact pressures and at 500-2,000rpm, and the stage 1 is fed at 0.5-1.0m/min speeds. Thereby, nylon is stuck and formed in the form of a film having unidirectional projecting parts on the substrates 1, whereby the uniform orientation films of superior water resistance and heat resistance are formed. In this way, the liquid crystal display cells are obtained with less steps and good final yields.
