Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a wear resistant phosphor bronze alloy having a low frictional coeffcient, by specifying the ingredients of Cu, Sn, P, Pb, Ti and graphite.
CONSTITUTION: The phosphor bronze alloy is prepared from 9 to 15wt%, 0.05 to 1.0wt% of P, 0.1 to 20.0wt% of Pb, 0.1 to 2.0wt% of Ti, 1.0 to 20.0wt% of graphite, if necessary 0.5 to 2.0wt% of two or more selected from the group consisting of Cr, Si, Ce and La, and balance of Cu. Preferably, the shape of the graphite used is massive or spherical, and the exposed surface area of the graphite particles is in the order to 15 to 50% for the sliding area. Thus a phosphor bronze excellent in the hard wearing property is obtained which will be suitably used for a sliding plate and an oilless bearing employed under a higher pressure.
