Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a method of recovering metal tin from tin plating sludge under a halogen bath, in which the sludge is made into a slurry, a hot alkali is added to react therewith, the resulting precipitation is separated off, and the filtrate is adjusted to a specified pH range and subjected to electroplating to electrodeposit tin.
CONSTITUTION: Water is added to the tin plating sludge from a halogen bath to convert the sludge into a slurry so that it contains 110W140g of sludge (expressed as dry weight) in 100ml of water. When an about 10% caustic soda aqueous solution that has been heated to 50W80°C is added to the slurry, the Sn in the slurry in converted into Na2SnO4, which is dissolved in the caustic soda solution. At the same time, Fe4[Fe(CN)6]3 coexisted with the Sn in the sludge is precipitated in the form of Fe(OH)3, and is separated off. Then an acid is added to the filtrate to adjust the pH to 7W13, and electroplating is effected to electrodeposite the tin.
