Abstract

PURPOSE: To recover efficiently the tin occurring as an impurity in the process of lead refining, by changing the tin in the molten lead to sodium stannate to have the salt contained in slag and extracting the slag to separate tin in the form of calcium stannate.
CONSTITUTION: The tin-containing lead obtained by electrolytic refining is fused, and the fused body is reacted with a soda compound to change the tin in the fused body to sodium stannate. Next, the sodium stannate-containing slag is separated from the fused lead and then leached with water to elute the sodium stannate, to which Ca2+ is, subsequently, added to precititate tin in the form of calcium stannate. The precipitate is reduced and fused to recover tin.
